El cambio institucional. Antecedentes, problemas y aportaciones teóricas

Abstract

Uno de los temas menos atendidos por el enfoque del nuevo institucionalismo es el referente al cambio de las instituciones. Este ensayo aborda el cambio institucional desde diversas perspectivas. Primero se retoman algunos debates de la economía política y la filosofía moral, después se analizan los límites del nuevo institucionalismo para explicar el cambio, luego se exponen algunas limitaciones en la capacidad que tienen los individuos para emprender cambios deliberados y finalmente se presenta uno de los marcos teóricos más novedosos para explicar las modalidades del cambio institucional.

Abstract: One of the issues least explored by the new institutionalism approach concerns the change in institutions. This essay explores institutional change from various perspectives. First of all, it takes up some of the debates on political economy and moral philosophy, then it analyzes the limits of the new institutionalism in explaining the change. It subsequently explains some of the limitations in individuals’ capacity to undertake deliberate change and lastly, it presents one of the most novel frameworks to explain the modalities of institutional change.
